Year End Giving
Posted December 08, 2009 by Aaron Story

A few weeks ago I asked the people of Indy Metro Church to consider a yearend contribution towards our expanded focus on the eastside.

Recently on Meet the Press, Pastor Rick Warren shared a conviction from the Scriptures to, “Never give your life for money” and then continues to share that, “We are most like God when we are giving.”

That truly encourages me during this Advent season to be challenged to shape our lives to generously responding to the Gospel with time, talents, and treasures.

It brings to mind the passage 1 Timothy 6:6-8 Paul writes, “A devout life does bring wealth, but it's the rich simplicity of being yourself before God. Since we entered the world penniless and will leave it penniless, if we have bread on the table and shoes on our feet, that's enough. (The Message)”

As I recently shared recently at Indymetro.org, generosity looks different dependent upon the individual’s personal circumstances, but we are still called to a generous lifestyle as a testimony (albeit a private one) of a desire to draw near to the Lord.

Whether you live richly or poorly on this earth, a need for generosity cannot be ignored for the follower of Jesus Christ and is a mark of someone responding to the Gospel.

Our commitment as a leadership team and pastoral staff has simply been to move forward in faith with what is immediately in front of. While some of the details are vague, the Lord has clarified a great deal for us over the past month.  As I shared, additional funding is needed to further prepare space at The Irving for us, purchase basic supplies and planning the critical monthly serving opportunities focused on the east side.

We invite each person who calls Indy Metro Church home to consider making a yearend special financial gift to support our commitment to Indianapolis’ east side. Not by meeting some obligatory percentage, but gladly sacrificing for the sake of the gospel because Jesus sacrificed for us, and all we have is His.

You can give financially to Indy Metro in three different ways: Give Online: indymetro.org/giving. Joy Boxes: Make a yearend contribution during you’re Sunday morning attendance. Mail: Indy Metro Church Office: 451 North New Jersey, Indianapolis 46204

We’re looking forward to what lies ahead together in 2010!
