Fathers Day at IMC Posted June 15, 2009 by Aaron Story | |
Father’s Day at Indy Metro will be one to not soon forget at Indy Metro. We live in a fatherless generation where men are encouraged to lessen their roles of leadership and influence in the community, but especially in their church and families. Simply put, we are in a culture lacking of committed male leadership.
Over the weekend I was reading through the Book of Colossians again and reminded of Christ’s rule in our hearts as a family. Read what Paul says to the individual believer living in the family, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” We truly have much to be thankful for as God continues to build the Indy Metro family and the men within it.
As God has cultivated men who are willing to stand up and take responsibility in their families, church, and community we celebrate that together! And Dan and I have shared frequently over the past couple of years, we place a high value to maintaining local governance of the church according to the Scriptures. Pastor, Elder, and Overseer are all synonymous terms in the Bible. With Jesus Christ as head of the church, we are committed to the New Testament dynamic of the plurality of elder leadership. Click Here for an expanded look at the roles of pastors at Indy Metro.
Through a very lengthy process of prayer and seeking counsel we came to decisions regarding two men whom are clearly committed to shepherding and leading Indy Metro as pastors. Ben Kunkel and Ken Jones have faithfully maintained positions of sacrificial leadership within Indy Metro. We believe this is a public affirmation of a call the Lord placed on both of them!
Also, for Fathers Day, June 21st for special guest speakers, Justin and Trisha Davis. Justin and Trisha Davis had their marriage implode. Through a miracle of God and the prayers of hundreds of people, God has restored their marriage and given them a fresh start. Their message of grace, hope and second chances is a story told straight from the heart of God. Visit their blog at http://refineus.org.
I hope you will join us for what will be an amazing Fathers Day next weekend.
