Covenant Partnership Posted January 02, 2009 by Aaron Story | |

One of the things in 2009 I am most excited about as a 2 ½ year old church is our newly introduced Covenant Partnership. The leadership of Indy Metro is introducing the Covenant Partnership for every follower of Christ involved at IMC to consider to fully support the mission, vision, unity, and works of the church!
We believe wholeheartedly that a commitment to the local church should be entered into by follower of Jesus as a spiritually binding covenant between them personally and Risen Lord Jesus, the Head of His Church.
A covenant is a binding agreement between parties. This conditional covenant is an agreement that is binding on both parties for its fulfillment. Both parties agree to fulfill certain conditions. If either party fails to meet their responsibilities, the covenant is broken and neither party has to fulfill the expectations of the covenant.
The most notable examples in the Scriptures of covenants between God and His people include:
- Abrahamic Covenant- Genesis 12-15
- Palestinian Covenant - Deuteronomy 29:1-29 & Deuteronomy 30:1-10
- Mosaic Covenant - Exodus 19-24
- Davidic Covenant - 2 Samuel 7, 1 Chronicles 17:11-14, 2 Chronicles 6:16
- New Covenant- Jeremiah 31, Hebrews 8-9
This is not only an Old Testament responsibility but can still be a valuable part of the lives of New Testament Christians today.
Covenant Partnership at Indy Metro Church is a one year agreement between the individual and Indy Metro Church to "covenant" together to love people and the Lord in our city.
If you are considering how you can engage Indy Metro Church deeper in our mission to love people who are far from God and see them drawn near to God and stay committed to truth, relevance, support, and worship we invite you to explore Covenant Partnership.
